How it works

How to make a profile picture

  1. Lay your photo on the mat

A photo where your face is easy to see. A selfie is fine, ideally with some room around your head.

  2. Slide and zoom

Drag the photo inside the circle and zoom in until your face sits nicely in the middle. With the keyboard: the arrows, plus and minus.

  3. Choose a background and download

Remove the background and pick a colour, or keep the photo as it is. Download round (PNG) or square (JPG), up to 1080 pixels.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Round or square, which do I choose?

Most sites crop your photo round themselves. A square JPG works everywhere. The round PNG has transparent corners, handy for an e-mail signature or your own site.

How does removing the background work?

Your browser downloads a cut-out file of 6.6 MB once, like a font. Then Snipsel cuts out your photo on your own device. Your photo goes nowhere.

What size do I need?

For LinkedIn, Teams and WhatsApp, 400 to 800 pixels is enough. Choose 1080 for Instagram or if you also want to print it.
