Instagram grid and carousel

One big photo across your whole profile, or a panorama that runs on from slide to slide. Snipsel cuts it into equal pieces and numbers them in the order to post.

How it works

How to split a photo for Instagram

  1. Lay your photo on the mat

A wide photo for a carousel, a large one for a grid. We use the centre and cut off as little as possible.

  2. Choose grid or carousel

Grid: three across, 1 to 4 rows. Carousel: 2 to 10 slides. Square or portrait 4:5, the way Instagram shows them.

  3. Download and post in order

You get a ZIP of numbered pieces. Post them from 01 to the last one and everything falls into place.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why does the grid start at the bottom right?

On your profile the newest post sits top left. So you post the bottom-right piece first and finish top left. The number in the file name tells you which goes first.

What sizes do I get?

Each piece is 1080 pixels wide, square 1080 × 1080 or portrait 1080 × 1350. If your photo is smaller, we keep its own pixels and say so.

Does my photo go to a server?

No. The cutting happens in your browser, on your own device. What you send to Instagram, you send yourself.
